Secrets exposed in Return to Mysterious Island 2 for mobiles
Retitled sequel released today for iPhone and iPod Touch

Having an iPhone handy in case you get stranded is always a good idea, and never has that been more true than today's mobile release of Secrets of the Mysterious Island, which deserts players once again on the South Pacific island once inhabited by Captain Nemo.

Despite its new title, Secrets is really the iPhone/iPod Touch version of Return to Mysterious Island 2: Mina's Fate, released earlier this year on PC. In the game, a young woman named Mina and her simian buddy Jep seem poised to be rescued, but disaster strikes and players find themselves back where they started, fighting for survival. This time, however, the entire island's survival is at stake, as a green gas cloud begins to poison the plant and animal life, and only the two protagonists can stop it.

The roughly 700 MB mobile version includes a special feature that "allows you to navigate in the game both with the fingers touching the screen but also using the compass and the accelerometer to explore and turn in the 360° view."

Secrets of the Myserious Island is available at the Apple App Store for $6.99. For more information about the PC original, be sure to check out our review of the game.
