While sitting at home with a cup of coffee in one hand and a stack of papers in the other, I often drool, leaving trails of saliva along the edges of my students' midterms and final essay examinations. Life is too short to spend the afternoons daydreaming. So, I take control of my life, search out excitement in every niche, and play...adventure games.
Adventure games used to provide me with a path into the world of fantasy, as a means to escape the concrete jungle of Detroit. And now that I am an English teacher, a forensics coach, a writer, and a husband, I realize the TRUE importance of escapist gaming: to grip any last bits of sanity that I may have left! My wife and I are both adventure game freaks, and dang proud of it.
I am also proud to call myself a Huskie, a part of Portage Northern High School's culture. I am known as the young, crazy, out-there English guy with an attitude. Critical thinking is the key to success in my classroom, and, in all honesty, it is the key to success in life. Oddly enough...critical thinking is also the key to success in any good adventure game. Wow, it took only three steps to connect adventure games to my classroom. I'm good.
My wife Amy puts up with a tempermental artist, and I love her all the more for being such a great friend. I hope to do voice acting in many adventure games in the future, since I miss the good old days of theatrical and interpretive performance.
Well, now that I have spilled out my entire life for you to peruse, I will go back to grading papers and sipping coffee...right after I finish this last part in Myst IV, of course.
